Athletes of the Month Named for March

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University has recognized four student-athletes for their achievements in academics and athletics for the month of March, it was announced Wednesday by Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart.
Each month during the school year, the Athletics Department honors a male and female student-athlete for academic achievement, and a male and female student-athlete for athletic achievement.
The academic winners for the month of March are Abigail Roos, a junior on the women's crew team, and Sam Bobek, a junior on the men's crew team. Roos, from Sherwood High School, has a 3.72 GPA in Spanish. Bobek, from Warrenton High School, has a 3.95 in pre-dentistry.
The athletic winners for March are Tarrah Beyster, a senior softball pitcher from Chula Vista High School in San Diego, CA, and Anthony Arvidson, a junior golfer from Beaverton and Sunset High School.
Beyster had an outstanding month of March for the Beavers. She was selected the Pacific-10 Player of the Week (March 28) after being named to the Bank of Hawaii All-Tournament team. She posted a 13-3 pitching record in March, plus she batted .633 (19-for- 30). During the Hawaii tourney, Tarrah recorded her 200th career hit, just the second Beaver to reach the 200 career hits milestone.
Arvidson won the Oregon Duck Invitational at the Shadow Hills Country Club on March 20-21 with a 4-under par 212 score. Arvidson also won the Northwest Invitational this year. He had a low round of 68 in March and averaged 71.8 strokes over his last six rounds. His season average is 72.1, the lowest on the team. Previous winners follow:
