March 28, 2000
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Tarrah Beyster has been named the Pacific-10 Softball Player of the Week for March 22-28, the league office announced Tuesday.
The senior All-American from San Diego was named to the Bank of Hawaii Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the No. 12 Oregon State squad to a second-place showing at the tournament last week. She batted .467 (7-for-15) in seven games and set a tournament record with four home runs. She finished the week with nine RBI, five runs scored and seven walks.
She hit her first career grand slam in OSU's win over Hawaii, and she recorded another milestone in that game as well. She went 3-for-3 in that game, and her second hit was also her 200th career hit to become the second Beaver to reach the 200 hits mark.
Beyster leads the Beavers with a .507 batting average, 11 home runs, 31 RBI and 21 runs scored this season. She also holds a 16-5 record as a pitcher.
Beyster has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week twice this season, also earning the award on February 29. It is the seventh time in her career that she's been named either Pac-10 Player or Pitcher of the Week.
