March 23, 1999
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State senior outfielder Jodi Chmielewski has been named the Pacific-10 Player of the Week for softball, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Chmielewski hit .368 in six games last week, going 7-19 with three doubles and four RBI.
With No. 12 OSU down 2-1 in the seventh inning against No. 2 Arizona, Chmielewski hit a two-out double to tie the game and send it into extra innings. OSU eventually won, 3-2, in eight innings.
Chmielewski also had the game-winning RBI in OSU's 2-1 win over No. 11 Texas, and she had the game-tying RBI in OSU's 2-1 victory over Cal State Northridge.
It is the first time this season an OSU player has been named Player of the Week; Crystal Draper was named Pitcher of the Week on March 9. This is Chmielewski's second career Player of the Week honor; she received the weekly award once last season as well.
