Three Softball Players Named to All-Region Second Team

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University softball players Tarrah Beyster, Jodi Chmielewski and Courtney Stewart have been named to the All-Pacific Region Softball Second Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Beyster, a junior from San Diego, earned a position on the team as a utility player. She currently has a 27-10 record on the mound with a 1.36 ERA. Beyster has set single season school records this season for innings pitched (251.1), complete games (28), shutouts (11), and saves (6). At the plate, she is batting .331 with 33 RBI and 12 home runs. Beyster earned her third consecutive first team All-Pac-10 honor this season and was selected the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week for the week ending April 18.
Chmielewski leads the team with a .338 batting average. The senior outfielder from San Pedro, Cal., has 73 hits and 16 doubles this season, a new school record, and those numbers have contributed to her OSU career record of 222 hits and 38 doubles. The second team All-Pac-10 selection this season has 21 multiple-hit games.
Stewart earned her way onto the team as a designated player. The Olympia, Wash., native has 18 hits and nine RBI for the season. Stewart possesses a batting average of .277 and has the teams second-best on-base percentage at .390.
The No. 12 Beavers are in Baton Rouge, LA., this week preparing for their NCAA Tournament debut. Oregon State opens play against No. 8 Southern Mississippi at 11 a.m. PDT May 20.
