Beavers Sweep No. 8 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University Softball team was swept in Pac-10 doubleheader by #13 Oregon State on Saturday afternoon at the Stanford Softball Complex. The Beavers took game one by a 1-0 score, then won game two by a 3-0 decision. With the losses, #8 Stanford moves to 30-11 overall, 2-6 in the Pac-10, while Oregon State goes to 31-12, 4-4 in the Pac-10.
In the first game, Oregon State scored the only run of the game in the top of of the seventh inning. The Beavers' Brooke Rutschman walked and then Jodi Chimelewski singled off the pitcher to begin the inning. Both runners were then sacrificed to third and second, respectively. After the next OSU batter grounded out, Courtney Stewart hit a single to left field, which scored Rutschman with winning run.
Game two saw Oregon State scores its first run in the top of the first inning. After the first two OSU batters were retired, two straight hits by the Beavers put runners at first and third. An error by Cardinal 3B Christina Chao then allowed Oregon State to take a 1-0. The score stayed that way until the top of the fourth. With two outs and a runner on second base, 1B Jenni Jodoin hit a two-run home run to left field to provide the final margin of victory.
