Baseball Team Loses to UC-Santa Barbara, San Diego State
Feb. 18, 1998
SAN DIEGO - Oregon State turned in a lackluster performance and lost its first two baseball games of the season Wednesday, falling to Cal-Santa Barbara 11-7 and San Diego State 6-3 on the first day of the Jim Dietz Classic at SDSU's Tony Gwynn Stadium.
OSU (3-2 overall) will play CETYS of Mexico at 10 a.m. today in a non-counting exhibition game, then meet Portland at 10 a.m. Friday. The Beavers gave up unearned runs in each of the first two innings against UCSB (2-4-1) and never seemed to get into sync all day, losing leads twice against San Diego State (3-3).
OSU committed five errors on the day and stranded 24 runners in the two games.
