March 21, 1998
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Despite a strong performance on the mound from sophomore pitcher Tarrah Beyster, the 18th ranked Oregon State softball team (16-8) dropped a 1-0 contest to No. 11 Texas (27-6) Friday at the Kia Klassic.
The Longhorns scored the game's only run in the second inning when Nikki Cockrell came home on pitcher Christa Williams' squeeze bunt.
Beyster allowed just three hits, but Williams allowed just three Beavers hits as well and struck out 10 OSU batters in the process.
Juniors Jodi Chmielewski and Kim Herman and sophomore Parisa Plant each had hits for Oregon State.
