April 12, 1998
STANFORD, Calif. - Anjeanette Dabbs shot a final round 2-over-par 75 to help the No. 18 Oregon State women's golf team to a sixth place finish at the 13-team Peg Barnard California Collegiate. The 36-hole tournament was held at the Stanford Golf Course, the site of the Pac-10 Championships April 20-22.
The Beavers rebounded from an opening round 319, to post a 309 over the final 18. OSU finished the tournament at 628, 27 shots back of tournament champion USC.
"We played better today, in fact I thought we played better than we actually scored," OSU Head Coach Rise' Lakowske said. "We need to have better course management here, but I think they started to develop some confidence as today's round continued."
Dabbs finished tied for 11th in the tournament at 154. The rest of the OSU contingent included Rachel Borcherts tied for 23rd at 158; Andrea Hehn and Kathleen Takaishi tied for 29th at 159; and Anne Brooksby and Carina Olsson tied for 38th at 160. Borcherts was playing as an individual, thus her score did not count toward the team total.
Anike Heuser of Oregon won the individual title with a 1-over-par 147 score.
