OSU Softball Coaches Receive Regional Award

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Oregon State's softball coaching staff has been named the Speedline Pacific Region Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, it was announced Thursday.
Fifth year head coach Kirk Walker along with assistant coaches Gina Vecchione and Jenny Condon share the honor with Teresa Wilson and the coaching staff at the University of Washington.
The 1999 Oregon State team made the school's first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and had OSUs first winning season since 1984.
OSU finished with a 47-25 record to set the school record for single-season victories, and the Beavers ended up setting a total of 28 team and individual school records during the season. OSU finished one game away from the College World Series and was ranked 10th in the final NFCA Top 25 poll for its highest ranking in a final poll.
Walker was named Pacific-10 Co-Coach of the Year and was also Oregon State's Coach of the Year. The OSU softball team was named Oregon State's Team of the Year.
Walker and his staff are now up for consideration for Speedline Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year honors. That recipient of that award will be announced June 29.
