Women's JV Golf Team Fourth at Portland

Portland, Ore. - Aloha - The Oregon State womens junior varsity golf team shot 307 in the final round, the best for the day, and finished fourth at the inaugural University of Portland Invitational. The Beavers passed three teams the final day and finished with a 955 total.
Reena Eklund paced Oregon State on the final day. The junior from Medford shot a career low 3-over-par 75 over The Reserve Course. Eklund concluded the tournament tied for 12th at 235.
The Beavers also received a strong performance from Erin Borcherts, who was playing in her first collegiate tournament. Borcherts, the sister of current two-year OSU letterwinner Rachel Borcherts, tied for 14th at 236. Other Oregon State scores include Brandi Seymour and Anne Brooksby tied for 25th at 243; and Jennifer Ferrante tied for 30th at 244.
"I thought we were much more comfortable with the golf course today," Oregon State assistant coach Charles Kingsbaker said. "We played really well overall today, and this tournament gave us some great experience as we look toward the rest of the season."
Oregon captured the team title at 908, 22 shots better than second place San Diego State. The Ducks Karen Bristow was the individual champion at 220.
The Beavers return to action Oct. 5-7 at the NCAA Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla.
