About Iowa State (10-1, 2-0)
ISU remained perfect at home with a thrilling last-second 71-68 win over Texas Jan. 5. The Cyclones had four players score in double-figures, but Megan Taylor's final three points of her game total of 13 were the final difference.
Iowa State led by as much as eight late in the game, but UT tied the score at 68 with just 2.9 seconds remaining. After two time outs, ISU had the ball on the opposite end line. Erica Haugen launched a long inbounds pass to the top of ISU's key, where Taylor came down with the ball with her back to the basket. In a play the team has practiced every day of Fennelly's tenure, Taylor spun around and sank a three-point hook shot which put ISU up with 1.1 seconds remaining. Texas could not answer with a desperation shot of its own.
Stacy Frese was the team's top scorer with 17 points, while Angie Welle and Desiree Francis recorded 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Cyclones hit 49.0 percent from the floor, but were outrebounded (38-29) for just the second time this season. ISU hit 12-of-18 free throws, while Texas made just 1-of-5.
About Kansas (12-3, 2-0)

Lynn Pride, the only Jayhawk averaging double-digit scoring (18.6 ppg), also leads the team in rebounds (7.1 rpg), steals (38) and blocked shots (10). Pride was the preseason conference player-of-the-year favorite. She has been the team's top scorer in all but three games this season and has notched four double-doubles.
Kansas averages 68.3 points per game on 46.7 percent shooting while holding opponents to 58.5 points per outing and 36.3 percent accuracy from the floor.

It was Iowa State's first win over KU since Feb. 2, 1991, and Kansas was the only team left in the league that Fennelly's teams had not defeated.
