Men's Basketball Pounds Ark-Pine Bluff, 74-56

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Deaundra Tanner scored 23 points as Oregon State pulled away in the second half to beat poor-shooting Arkansas-Pine Bluff 74-56 Friday night.
Tanner scored 13 of the first 16 points for the Beavers (3-1). But the Golden Lions (0-6) held Oregon State scoreless for almost four minutes and pulled within 21-20 on a three-point play by Effrence Smith with 3:31 left in the half.
The Beavers led 33-32 early in the second half before putting the game away with a 15-0 run during a five-minute stretch. Jason Heide, who had nine points during the run, hit a free throw to put Oregon State ahead 48-32 with 10:28 left.
The Golden Lions shot just 27 percent for the game from the field, including just 5-of-22 from 3-point range, while the Beavers shot 52 percent.
Tanner also had seven rebounds. Josh Steinthal and Heide each had 12 points. Oregon State also rebounded Arkansas-Pine Bluff 49-35.
The Golden Lions, who went 4-23 last season, were led by Michael Vickers and Ben Coleman with 15 points each.
