RADIO: All Oregon State womens basketball games will be carried live over KLOO (1340 AM) with sports director Nate Lundy calling the action. Air time is 6:45 p.m. on OSUs Friday game and air time on Saturday will be 20 minutes prior to tip-off.
STREAKS: Oregon State is currently on a one-game losing streak overall, a one-game Pac-10 losing streak, a 11-game road losing streak, and a one-game Gill Coliseum losing streak. The Beavers have won 32 of their last 47 (.681) games played at Gill Coliseum. Over the last six seasons OSU is 50-20 (.714) at Gill Coliseum.
SPOELSTRA RECORD: Judy Spoelstra (Oregon State, 83) is in her fourth season as OSUs head coach. Spoelstra is 38-47 (.447) in four seasons at OSU and she is 136-115 (.542) in 10 seasons as a collegiate head coach, her first six being at Montana State.
NON-CONFERENCE RECORD: Oregon State has an all-time non-conference record of 208-103 (since 1977) for a .669 percentage.
SPOELSTRA RADIO SHOW: Coach Spoelstra will have a live one-hour radio show during the season on Tuesday nights over KLOO (1340 AM) with Nate Lundy serving as the host. The next show will air live from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, at the Headline Cafe at 3rd and Jefferson in Corvallis.

DOUBLE-DOUBLES: OSU freshman Chassie Wiersma got Beaver career off to a fast start by producing a double-double (16 points and 12 rebounds) in her first collegiate game in OSUs 71-67 victory over San Diego State. BLOCKED SHOTS: Junior center Sissel Pierce blocked one shot vs. Colorado State to give her 60 career blocked shots, moving her into a tie for eighth place on OSUs all-time list. Pierce needs three more blocked shots to move up to seventh place on the career list. Pierce finished her sophomore season with 46 blocks, which ties her for fifth on OSUs all-time season list with Judy Shannon (1991 and 1992). OSUs career and season top 10 lists follow:

ASSIST RATIO: Oregon State has been a good assist team in recent years, but is off to a slow start after two games. The Beavers have recorded assists on 30 of their 50 field goals made, a percentage of .600. Cherrith Wiersma and Chassie Wiersma top OSU in assists with 9 and 7, respectively.
TURNOVERS: Turnovers were a nemesis for OSU last year as the Beavers averaged 23.8 a game and had a negative 3.15 turnover margin per game. OSU has started the season with 61 turnovers, an average of 30.5. Two Beaver players have positive assist to turnover ratios after two games. Both point guards, Cherrith Wiersma and Syesha Thomas, have positive numbers. Cherrith has a 9/8 assist/turnover ratio and Thomas is 6/5.
DEFENSE: OSU opened the defense with a strong defensive performance against San Diego State, holding the Aztecs to a .344 shooting percentage. However, Colorado State shot .583 from the floor against OSU. The Beavers did force the Rams into 27 turnovers which was a positive sign.
REBOUNDING: Oregon State has shown through its first two games that it will be a strong rebounding team in 1998-99. The Beavers have out-rebounded San Diego State by 10 and Colorado State by 5 to hold a 7.5 average per game rebound edge over opponents.
NOTES: Reda Kakeranaite also pulled off a double-double while coming off the bench against Colorado State. She scored 8 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. A poor showing the free throw line (3 for 8) stopped her from getting her first collegiate double-double. OSU had an impressive 16 steals against Colorado State, including a team-high 4 by freshman point guard Cherrith Wiersma.
SISSEL PIERCE: Sissel has been bothered with a sore knee through the entire preseason and has been unable to log very much practice time...as a result, her minutes are down and her performance is no where near where she left off after her sophomore year...in fact, Sissel had a string of 10 straight double figure scoring games stopped in the season opener when she was held to 7 points. Sissel bounced back with 16 points against Colorado State. (SEASON NOTES)--After shooting a poor 2 for 7 against San Diego State, Sissel returned to form against Colorado State by connecting on 8 of 11 shots from the field and is shooting .556 from the field after two games...Sissel has scored 23 points in only 28 minutes of action in two games. (CAREER NOTES)--Sissel has a current string of nine straight games in which she has blocked a shot. Sissel now has 60 career blocks, which ties her for eighth on OSUs all-time list. Sissel is shooting .548 (176-321) in her career and she has tallied 422 career points and 150 career rebounds...she has scored in double figures in 21 of 47 career games. She has scored in double figures in 11 of her last 12 games.
VANESSA MORRIS: Vanessa finished the 1998-99 season with six straight free throws made and she is a perfect 2-2 to start out this season, giving her a streak of eight straight made.....she wound up eighth in the Pac-10 in free throw accuracy at .745 in 1998-99. (CAREER NOTES)--Vanessa is currently fifth on OSUs career list for 3-point field goal attempts with 164 and fourth on the career list with 50 made from 3-point range...Vanessa is shooting .735 from the charity stripe (114-155) and .305 (50-164) from 3-point range...she has 134 career assists and 75 career steals.
TAMMY ARNOLD: Tammy set out 1997-98 after transferring from Connecticut...she got her OSU career off to a bang with 16 points and 8 rebounds against San Diego State in the season opener...Colorado State geared its defense to stop Arnold and she was held to 2 points and 0-5 from the field.
CHASSIE WIERSMA: Chassie got her OSU career off with a great start, producing a double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) in her very first collegiate game...Chassie added 15 points and 8 rebounds against Colorado State...Chassie is OSUs leading scorer and rebounder after two games, averaging 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds...Chassie also has dished out 7 assists, second only to her twin sister Cherrith, and has 3 steals and 2 blocked shots...she is also tied with Cherrith for the most minutes played, 61.
CHERRITH WIERSMA: Cherrith, along with her twin sister Chassie, has made a big impact in her first two games as a Beaver...Cherrith has been OSUs starting point guard as a freshman...she is the Beavers fourth leading scorer (7.0), leads in assists (9), has 4 steals, is shooting .500 from the field and .750 from the foul line, plus has played great defense...Cherrith and Chassie lead the Beavers in minutes played, tied at 61 minutes apiece.
REDA KAERANAITE: Reda, a junior college transfer, had her best outing of the season against Colorado State and nearly pulled off a double-double as she produced 8 points and 11 rebounds...a poor showing the free throw line (3-8) stopped her from getting a double-double...Redas performance earned her a starting spot against Eastern Washington..
ERICKA BROSTERHOUS: Ericka has played very well in OSUs opening two games...she is shooting .750 from the field and has scored 13 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, picked off 3 steals and dished 2 assists in 37 minutes of action...she runs the floor extremely well and is a strong rebounder.
FELICIA RAGLAND: Felicia started against Colorado State for her first collegiate start as a freshman...she has scored 4 points in 34 minutes of action and has picked off 3 steals and added 2 assists...she has been guilty of 9 turnovers in two games.
LEI SALEA: Lei started the Colorado State game and has scored 2 points and pulled down 3 rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
SYESHA THOMAS: Syesha has participated in 19 minutes of action as a backup point guard to Cherrith Wiersma and has a positive assist/turnover ratio of 6 to 5...she scored her only 2 points in the San Diego State victory.
TANESHA WADE: Tanesha started against San Diego State and produced 4 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots and played a strong defensive game...she added 2 points in a backup role against Colorado State.
