Beyster Named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week
April 13, 1999
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State junior Tarrah Beyster has been named the Pacific-10 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Beyster went 3-0 with two saves in 25 innings of work last week. The All-American posted a 0.00 ERA and did not allow a run all week.
She limited the opposition to a mere .074 batting average, giving up just six hits with 17 strikeouts in five appearances. She pitched a one-hitter in OSU's 11-inning shutout over No. 14 California, and she also gave up just one hit in a win over Portland State. She pitched a four-hitter in a win over No. 8 Stanford.
Beyster also made two relief appearances, coming in with two runners on base late in the game both times, and both times she held the opponents hitless to preserve the shutouts.
It is her first Pitcher of the Week honor this season and the second of her career. She has also been named Player of the Week three times in her career. She is the third Beaver to receive conference recognition this season; Crystal Draper also has been named Pitcher of the Week, and Jodi Chmielewski has been named Player of the Week.
UCLA's Stacey Nuveman was this weeks Player of the Week.
