Beyster Named to Academic All-District Team

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Oregon State junior pitcher Tarrah Beyster has been named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-District VIII Women's Softball Team, it was announced Thursday.
Beyster carries a 3.60 grade point average as a psychology major and has earned All-District academic honors for the second consecutive season.
Athletically, Beyster is a two-time All-American and holds more than 20 Oregon State records. She leads the 12th ranked Beaver squad with a 1.35 ERA to go along with a 26-10 record. Offensively, she leads the team with 12 home runs and ranks second in both batting average (.329) and RBI (31).
In order to be eligible for the GTE Academic awards, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). The athlete must also be a starter or important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school.
The 11 members of the All-District VIII Team are now up for national GTE/CoSIDA Womens Softball Academic All-America honors. The national winners will be announced Tuesday, June 3.
District VIII is made up of schools from California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and British Columbia.
