The Beavers have won 30 of their last 43 (.698) games played at Gill Coliseum. Over the last four seasons OSU is 48-18 (.727) at Gill Coliseum. The last time the Beavers lost five in a row at home was at the end of the 1991-92 season and the first two home games of the 1992-93 season. The last time OSU lost 12 games in a row was during the 1989-90 season when the Beavers suffered their all-time losing streak of 17 games.
OSU-CALIFORNIA SERIES: Oregon State and California have played 35 times previously and the Beavers currently hold a 19-15 series edge. The Bears have a one-game winning streak as a result of downing OSU 77-64 in January at Oakland. The Beavers have a five-game winning streak over California at Corvallis. The last time the Bears won in Corvallis was 78-71 in 1992. The Beavers have won eight of the last 11 games played in the series. OSU has a 11-3 record vs. the Bears in Gill Coliseum. Judy Spoelstra is 3-2 vs. California.
OSU-STANFORD SERIES: This will be the 25th meeting between Oregon State and Stanford and the Cardinal holds a 19-5 series edge, including a current six-game winning streak. The last time the Beavers defeated Stanford was 78-73 at Gill Coliseum in 1995, which was the last time the Cardinal had lost a Pac-10 game until losing to Arizona once this year. OSU is 5-7 vs. Stanford at Gill Coliseum and 0-13 at Palo Alto. Judy Spoelstra is 0-5 against the Cardinal.
SPOELSTRA RECORD: Judy Spoelstra (Oregon State, `83) is in her third season as OSU's head coach. Spoelstra is 36-45 (.444) in three seasons at OSU and she is 134-113 (.543) in nine seasons as a collegiate head coach, her first six being at Montana State.
THE FIRST TIME AROUND: Stanford was OSU's opening opponent to start Pac-10 play on January 2 and the Cardinal rolled to an impressive 93-66 victory. The Beavers were competitive in the first half as Stanford led 44-37, but the Cardinal dominated the second half, outscoring OSU by 20 points, 49-29. Stanford had four players score in double figures, led by Olympia Scott with 18, followed by Heather Owen and Milena Flores with 15, and Kristin Folkl with 12. Monica Watts paced the Beavers with 21 points, followed by Nicole McAllister with 13 and Vanessa Morris with 12. Stanford dominated the boards with a 47-31 margin and also shot .541 from the field, compared to .404 by OSU. The Beavers' second leading scorer, Sissel Pierce, scored only two points and had zero rebounds in five minutes of action. In the first meeting with California, the Bears jumped to a 44-30 hafltime lead and maintained the margin throughout the second half en route to a 77-64 victory. Cal shot .545 from the field and held a 39-35 rebounding edge. The Beavers shot only .385 from the field and missed numerous layins. Mesa Radovic topped the Bears in scoring with 16 points, followed by Paige Bowie with 13. A total of 10 Cal players got into the scoring column. Vanessa Morris had her season high of 18 points in the Cal game, followed by Pierce with 17 and Missy Ross with 10.
RECORD CHASE: Senior Nicole McAllister has already established an OSU season record for 3-point attempts with 108, surpassing the previous high of 95 by Anette Mollerstrom in 1995. McAllister has made 37 and is six shy of the season record of 43 held by Anette Mollerstrom (1994). McAllister currently ranks third in career 3-point attempts with 214, but will not catch second place A.J. Dionne (1993-96), who has 289. Vanessa Morris is fifth (153) and Monica Watts sixth (119) on the career 3-point attempts list. McAllister is currently third in career 3-pointers made with 65, while Morris is tied for fourth with 45 and Watts is sixth with 37. Mollerstrom has the most career 3-pointers made at 113, followed by Dionne at 96. Sissel Pierce is tied for eighth on OSU's single-season shot blocked list with 41 and is ninth in career blocks with 51.
OSU NOTES: Monica Watts has been on fire for the Beavers in her last seven games...during that period she posted three straight double-doubles, a career high 35 points at Arizona and a fourth double-double against Oregon in her last outing...the 35 points by Watts is the second highest individual output by a player in the Pac-10 Conference this year...Sissel Pierce had a career high 17 rebounds, fourth best individual output ever by a Beaver player and 11th best single-game mark, against Oregon, while posting a double-double (16 points)...Angela Rosales, who has started two straight games, had a career best 3 rebounds and 4 assists vs. Oregon...Lei Salea had three career bests vs. the Ducks with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists...in the Beavers' current 12-game losing streak, opponents have shot .400 or better in 10 games, with only the Cougars (.387) and Ducks (.346) shooting below .400...OSU opponents have shot over .500 in three of the last nine games...in fact, in OSU's 15 Pac-10 defeats, opponents have shot over .500 five times and over .400 in eight other defeats...the Beavers held USC to a .291 shooting percentage in their only Pac-10 victory...in four games against the Arizona schools, OSU averaged 37 turnovers a game...the Beavers had 38 and 36 turnovers against Arizona and 33 and 31 vs. ASU...in all four games, OSU outrebounded the Arizona schools.
HONORS: Sophomore center Sissel Pierce earned all-tournament honors in the Diet Coke Shootout Tournament at Santa Clara and was nominated for Pac-10 player of the week following the Santa Clara tournament. Monica Watts was nominated for Pac-10 player of the week following OSU's victories over Portland State and Seton Hall.
3-POINTERS: On the season, Oregon State is shooting .314 as a team from 3-point range, which ranks sixth in Pacific-10 play for all games. In conference games only, the Beavers are shooting .326 which also ranks sixth in the conference. Monica Watts has the best individual percentage at .357, followed by Nicole McAllister at .343 and Jennifer Busen at .333. In conference games only, McAllister is the top shooter at .369, followed by Watts at .356 and Vanessa Morris at .286. McAllister has taken the most 3-pointers (108), a school record, and has made the most (37). McAllister has made a 3-point shot in all but four Beaver games this season, Fordham, WSU, UCLA and Oregon. As a team, OSU has a current streak of 33 straight games in which it has made a 3-point shot. The Beavers had a school record streak of 71 straight games of making a 3-pointer halted last year by Arizona State on 1/25/97 at Corvallis.
ASSIST RATIO: As a team, OSU has had a fairly consistent year in assists with a .625 assist ratio, based on 380 assists on 608 field goals made. The Beavers had one outstanding game this year and that and that was in preseason against Portland State at Gill Coliseum when OSU posted 29 assists. The Beavers had assists on 29 of 34 field goals made against the Vikings, a percentage of .853. OSU's school record for most assists in a game is 34. In conference play, the Beavers assist ratio is .613.
DEFENSE: Oregon State's defensive numbers were very good in preseason play, but since the start of Pac-10 action the numbers have been on a steady decline. For the season, the Beavers have fallen from second in Pac-10 scoring defense to ninth, allowing 71.3 points per game, and to 10th in conference games only at 77.2. OSU opponents are shooting .434 from the field overall, but in conference games only that figure reads .455. The Beavers have held only nine of 25 opponents under .400, but only three times in the last 17 games. OSU's season best was against USC at Gill Coliseum when the Trojans shot .291, and that was also during the Beavers' only Pac-10 victory to date. OSU is forcing an average of 20.3 turnovers a game and is averaging 8.6 steals per contest, but the downside is Beaver opponents are forcing an average of 24.2 turnovers a game and picking off 11.7 steals a game.
TURNOVERS: Turnovers have been killing OSU all season. The Beavers have been guilty of committing over 30 turnovers six times this year, including 33 and 38 turnovers in back-to-back games against ASU and Arizona at home, and 38 and 35 in back-to-back games at Arizona and ASU, respectively, on the road two weeks ago. OSU still remains last in the Pac-10 in turnover margin of -3.76 for all games. The Beavers have had only two Pac-10 game this year in which they have posted fewer turnovers, and that was against California (18-17) on the road and Washington (20-15) at home. Oregon State's has had less turnovers than its opponents in only five games this year. All 13 OSU players have a negative assist/turnover ratio.
REBOUNDING: Oregon State did a good job of rebounding in preseason, but has only outrebounded Pac-10 opponents in eight of 16 Pac-10 games to date. However, when the Beavers have been outrebounded in conference games the margin has been large. OSU has had a rebound advantage in 14 games this year. The Beavers are holding a slim season rebounding edge over opponents after 25 games, 37.9 to 36.8. In 16 Pac-10 games, OSU is being outrebounded by an average of 1.7 per game.
BLOCKED SHOTS: Sophomore center Sissel Pierce has moved into ninth place on OSU's career list for blocked shots with 51. She has moved past her coach, Judy Spoelstra, with 51 blocks to Spoelstra's 47. Pierce has 41 blocks so far this season, which ties her for eighth on OSU's all-time season list with Tanya Mothershed (1985). Senior forward Kristina Walsh is currently seventh on the Beavers' career list with 61 and her 43 blocks as a junior last year ranks seventh on the all-time season list. OSU's career and season top 10 lists follow:

CLIMBING THE 3-POINT CHART: Nicole McAllister, Vanessa Morris and Monica Watts are all climbing the charts of career 3-point shots made and attempting, while McAllister already holds the OSU record for attempts in a season with 108 this year and is six made 3-pointers away from matching the Beaver season record of 43. JUDY SPOELSTRA COMMENTS
ON OREGON GAME: "I thought we played a very good first half and came out very intense and ready to play. We kept in close, especially when we got our running game going at the end of the first half. We started out okay in the second half but I think we started standing on our heels a little too much and got into foul trouble. In the last 10 minutes of the game I thought we played good enough defense to not allow them to score but kept getting called for the foul. Any time you put a team on the free throw line that many times it is going to hurt. I thought we shot free throws very well in this game. If we could have gotten to the line a few more times it might have made a difference."
ON CALIFORNIA: "Cal has been playing better and better and it was not a surprise that they beat Arizona State. They are improving a lot and they have a pretty good freshman class that they are going with and riding through their bumps. They don't have a lot of experience, but they are trying to learn how to play hard."
ON STANFORD: "Stanford, of course, has clinched the Pac-10 title and now they are getting ready for tournament time. This will be a very tough opponent for us."
SECOND HALF HEARTBREAK: It has been a second half heartbreak for Oregon State this season. In 16 Pac-10 Conference games, the Beavers have been tied for ahead in seven games a halftime. In OSU's only conference victory to date, the Beavers trailed USC at halftime. OSU was tied with Oregon at halftime last Friday. The Beavers were leading at halftime against Washington State twice, and against UCLA and Arizona State at home and against USC on the road.
NON-CONFERENCE RECORD: Oregon State has an all-time non-conference record of 207-102 (since 1977) for a .670 percentage.
