Oregon State men blanked at Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. - Oregon State allowed a pair of first-half goals Friday afternoon and lost to California 2-0 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation mens soccer on Witter Field. OSU (5-4-1 overall, 1-2-0 MPSF) finishes its weekend trip at 17th-ranked Stanford on Sunday.
California (5-6-0, 2-1-0) struck in the 14th minute Friday as John Macdonald scored off a corner kick by John Beck, putting the ball in the lower left side of the net. The Bears added their second score in the 33rd minute when Chris Roner headed a Ramiro Arrendondo free kick into the goal from 10 yards out.
OSUs best chance at a score came late in the game when Greg Howes had a header bounce off the crossbar. Oregon State was outshot 16-10 in the game, but the Beavers had an 8-3 edge in shots in the second half.
