Beavers Stand Ninth at Pac-10 Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Stanford women's golf team placed three golfers in the top five, holding a five-stroke advantage over sixth-ranked USC after the first round of the Pac-10 Championships.
USC's Leila Chartrand and Stanford's Hilary Homeyer were the only golfers to navigate the the par-72, 6,154-yard Stanford Golf Course under par, as Chartrand leads all individuals with a two-under 70, followed by Homeyer's 71.
The Cardinal's Julie Dunn and Arizona State's Grace Park are tied for third at 72, and Stanford's Stephanie Keever and Oregon's Jerilyn White are in fifth with 73s. Defending Pac-10 Champion Jenna Daniels of Arizona sits in the middle of the field with a seven-over 79.
As a team, host Stanford carded a three-over-par 291, five strokes ahead of USC, at 296. Defending NCAA Champion Arizona State is in third at 301, while No. 18 UCLA is two strokes back at 303. Two-time defending Pac-10 Champion Arizona rounds out the top five squads with a 305.
The second round will begin Saturday, at 8:30 a.m. off the first and 10th tees.
