OSU wrestlers move up to 14th

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State jumped two spots this week to 14th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll. The Beavers (13-7 overall, 5-1 Pacific-10) moved up after knocking off Arizona State, which slipped from 10th to 12th in this weeks poll.
Oklahoma State continues to be a unanimous pick for the No. 1 ranking, followed by Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma. The highest-ranked Pacific-10 team is Cal State-Bakersfield at No. 11.
OSU, which also moved up a spot to No. 2 in the Pacific-10 team rankings, wrestles the second Civil War dual of the season at Oregon on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Beavers then close out the dual meet season at home against Brigham Young on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Gill Coliseum.
Oregon State has four wrestlers in this weeks national rankings, and six Beavers are in this weeks Pacific-10 rankings.
Senior 149-pounder Oscar Wood is ranked third nationally by both Amateur Wrestling News and InterMat; he is ranked first in the Pacific-10. Wood is 24-4 this season with 14 pins and has scored team bonus points for pins, technical falls, major decisions or forfeits in 61 percent of his matches.
Senior heavyweight Mat Orndorff is ranked sixth nationally by Amateur Wrestling News and fifth by InterMat; he is ranked second in the Pacific-10. Orndorff is 24-4 this season with 12 pins and has scored team bonus points in 64 percent of his matches.
Freshman 125-pounder Nathan Navarro is ranked 14th nationally by Amateur Wrestling News and 19th by InterMat; he is ranked third in the Pacific-10. Navarro is 19-14 this season with five pins and has scored team bonus points in 33 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 157-pounder Eric Jorgensen is ranked 18th nationally by Amateur Wrestling News and 19th by InterMat; he is ranked third in the Pacific-10. Jorgensen is 19-12 this season with two pins and has scored team bonus points in 29 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 133-pounder Ben Richards is ranked second in the Pacific-10. Richards is 19-8 this season with two pins and has scored team bonus points in 44 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 197-pounder Shane Zajac is ranked third in the Pacific-10. Zajac is 18-11 this season with three pins and has scored team bonus points in 28 percent of his matches.
