OSU women lose to 19th-ranked UCLA

LOS ANGELES - Oregon State was held to one shot Sunday afternoon as the Beavers were defeated by UCLA 4-1 in Pacific-10 womens soccer at North Athletic Field.
The Beavers (5-9-1 overall, 0-5-0 Pac-10) will try for their first Pac-10 win when they host Arizona State at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The womens match is the first half of a doubleheader, followed by the OSU men playing Washington at 3 p.m.
UCLA (15-2-1, 5-1-0) dominated the game offensively, outshooting OSU 23-1 and holding the Beavers to no corner kicks.
Oregon States lone goal came when senior Lindy Brown scored off a pass from Jona Maukonen. With that goal, Brown is now tied for fourth place in career points with 54, has sole possession of fifth place in career goals with 20, and is tied for seventh on the list of most goals in a season by a Beaver with eight.
The Bruins piled on four goals in the first half to put away the Beavers. Venus James had three goals, and the other goal was scored by Larisa Kiremidjian.
