No. 19 Softball Defeats Missouri, Long Beach State at Fresno Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - Jenni Jodoin was 3-6 with three runs scored in two games to help lift the No. 19 Oregon State softball team to two more wins at the Fresno State Classic on Sunday.
The Beavers (21-4) posted a 3-0 win over Missouri and followed that with a 5-1 victory against Long Beach State to finish the tournament with a 5-1 record, losing only to No. 1 UCLA on Friday.
Oregon State did all of its damage against Missouri (12-9) in the first inning, when the Beavers scored three runs on three hits. Tarrah Beyster's single sent Brooke Rutschman across the plate for the first run of the game, and Beyster then went to third on Jodoins double. Kelli Kranz came up with another double, allowing Beyster and Jodoin to score.
Beyster allowed just two hits and pitched the complete game, for her third shutout of the season. She upped her record to 12-2 and struck out seven Tiger batters with no walks in the process.
It was a pitchers' battle early in the second game, as the OSU and Long Beach (8-10) combined for just three hits and no runs through the first four innings.
The Beavers broke away in the fifth inning when they scored four runs, much in part to poor defense by the 49ers. OSU had just one hit - a single from Crystal Draper that scored two runs, but Long Beach committed three errors in the inning to allow the four runs (all unearned) to score. The Beavers scored another run in the seventh.
Draper had a shutout going until the seventh inning, when Nicole Spencer tripled and then scored on Erin Tuckers base hit. Draper threw the complete game to improve to 9-2 on the year. She allowed just six hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. Draper went 3-0 on the weekend and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
