LAS CRUCES, NM - Tarrah Beyster was named the Most Valuable Player at the Troy Cox Classic after guiding the Oregon State softball team to the tournament title on Sunday afternoon.

With the scored tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning in the championship game, Heather Chinn led off with a double and Michelle Notaro came into run as the Beavers looked to break away from the tie. Parisa Plant then singled to send Notaro to third, and Plant later stole second. Courtney Stewart pinch hit for Amber Anderson and reached on a fielder's choice; Plant went to third, but Notaro was thrown out at home. Anderson, who reentered to run for Stewart, then stole second and Plant stole home to give the Beavers the winning run.
Anderson and Shawna Feldt scored OSU's two other runs against the Lobos. They both scored on Brooke Rutschmans double in the third inning.
Oregon State scored all three of its runs against Utah in the second inning. Jenni Jodoin led off with a walk and went to third on Kim Herman's base hit. Chinn then put down a squeeze, and Jodoin scored and Herman went to second. Crystal Draper's base hit put runners on first and third, and Herman then scored on a fielder's choice when Plant grounded to short, forcing Draper out at second base. Plant stole second and scored on Feldt's single for the third run of the inning.
