Oregon State Announces Six Signings for Women's Soccer

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State has signed six players to national letters of intent for women's soccer, OSU head coach Steve Fennah announced Wednesday.
The six are fullback Nikki Ferchland of Lake Oswego High in Lake Oswego; fullback Olivia Jackson of Bellarmine Prep High in Tacoma, Wash.; forward BreeAnna Jolin of Robert Service High in Anchorage, Alaska; midfielder Leila Kaady of La Salle High in Milwaukie; wing Elizabeth Rennick of Phoenix High in Phoenix; and midfielder Jennifer Vander Arend of the Academy of Our Lady of Peace in San Diego.
"We're excited that the people we're bringing in will compete immediately for starting spots," Fennah said. "It's a great opportunity for them to be part of building a winning tradition in Oregon State women's soccer."
Fennah said Ferchland is a good athlete who played in some of the top competitive tournaments on the West Coast and had a very successful prep career. She was on Olympic Development Program state teams in 1992 and 1997 and was on the list of players to watch at a regional ODP camp.
Jackson reached a national final and won a regional championship in 1997 with her club team, F.C. Royals.
Jolin was named Most Valuable Player of the Alaska state tournament. She has been part of the state Olympic Development Program since 1993. Kaady played for the West Coast club title as a starter on her club team. She has been on the state Olympic Development Program team from 1993-97 and was on the regional team in 1994.
Rennick was a standout for her high school team and also has several years of Olympic Development program experience.
Vander Arend played for the Nomads, one of the best-known club programs on the West Coast, and was involved in the highly-competitive Southern California club atmosphere. She was in her district Olympic Development Program for the past three seasons.
