OSU wrestlers are 18th in national poll

CORVALLIS, Ore. - CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State is ranked 18th in this weeks National Wrestling Coaches Association poll. The Beavers (8-4 overall, 2-1 Pacific-10) dropped two spots after splitting their four meets at last weekends Virginia Duals tournament.
OSU will host Oregon (3-2, 2-2) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Gill Coliseum. That meet will be the annual Beaver Wrestling Homecoming, with all former Oregon State wrestlers encouraged to attend; call (541) 737-3252 for more information.
Oregon State has five wrestlers in this weeks national rankings and seven wrestlers in this weeks Pacific-10 rankings.
Senior 149-pounder Oscar Wood continues to be ranked first nationally by Amateur Wrestling News and moves up one spot to second this week in the InterMat rankings. Wood is ranked first in the Pacific-10; he is 18-1 this season with 10 pins. He has scored team bonus points - awarded for major decisions, technical fall, pins and forfeits - in 63 percent of his matches.
Senior heavyweight Mat Orndorff remains sixth in the AWN rankings and moves up one spot to fifth in the InterMat rankings. Orndorff is ranked second in the Pacific-10; he is on a 10-match winning streak that has given him a 17-3 record with 10 pins this season. He has scored team bonus points in a team-high 70 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 197-pounder Shane Zajac is 14th in this weeks AWN rankings and is 17th in the InterMat rankings. Zajac is ranked first in the Pacific-10; he is 14-7 with three pins this season and team bonus points in 33 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 157-pounder Eric Jorgensen is 16th in both the AWN and InterMat rankings this week. Jorgensen is ranked third in the Pacific-10; he is 16-7 with two pins this season and team bonus points in 30 percent of his matches.
Freshman 125-pounder Nathan Navarro is ranked 18th by AWN this week. Navarro is ranked second in the Pacific-10; he is 16-9 this season with four pins and team bonus points in 40 percent of his matches.
Sophomore 133-pounder Ben Richards is ranked second in the Pacific-10 this week. He is 15-4 with one pin this season and team bonus points in 53 percent of his matches.
Junior 174-pounder Clint Wilson is ranked third in the Pacific-10 this week. He is 9-8 with three pins this season and team bonus points in 24 percent of his matches.
