Men's Golf Completes Third Round

ORINDA, Calif. - Anthony Arvidson shot a 3-under-par 69 and has moved into fourth-place after three rounds of the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Orinda Country Club, east of Berkeley.
As a team Oregon State has slipped into a tie for seventh with Washington State at 1108.
The 69 by Arvidson was his second in three rounds. He now has a 54-hole total of 4-under-212, just four shots off the pace being set by California's Dan Arroyo. Arvidson is bidding to be the first Beaver to finish in the top four of the conference championship since Birk Nelson (2nd) and Charles Kingsbaker (4th) in the 1994 event in Tucson. The freshman from Beaverton also has an outside chance of joining Scott Masingill as the only Oregon State individual player to capture the conference title. Masingill won the Pac-8 event in 1971.
Corvallis native and current Beaver David Crowell is tied for 26th with one round remaining. Crowell shot a 75 and is at 6-over-222. The rest of the Beaver contingent includes Chris Janson tied for 34th at 224, Justin Johnson and Eric Fiskum are tied for 46th at 227, and Alex Palm shot a 78 in the third round. Palm was disqualified in the first round.
The host California Golden Bears will take the lead into the final round. The surprising Bears, who are ranked No. 45, have a five shot lead at 1,083. No. 15 Arizona State shot a blistering 351 Tuesday, the lowest for the entire tournament, to move up the leader board. No. 4 Arizona is seven shots off the lead and No. 42 Stanford is 13 shots back.
The final round is scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday.
