Men's Basketball Falls to Colorado State

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Sophomore center John Sivesind scored a career-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Colorado State to 64-50 win over Oregon State in a nonconference game on Dec. 1.
The Rams (5-1) also got 17 points and nine rebounds from senior guard Andre McKanstry. Senior guard Milt Palacio added 12 points and eight assists for Colorado State.
Oregon State (2-1) got a career-high 18 points from sophomore center Jason Heide, who also had nine rebounds. But Heide was the only Beaver to score in double figures.
Oregon State shot just 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field, including 21.1 percent (4-of-19) on 3-pointers.
Colorado State led by as many as 15 points in the first half, then saw Oregon State rally to within two points midway through the second half.
Colorado State went without a field goal for over seven minutes at one point as the Beavers cut the Rams' 37-26 halftime lead 45-43 with 9:12 to play.
But Sivesind hit a pair of 3-pointers during the next three Colorado State possessions, boosting the Rams to a 51-45 lead with 6:29 left. Oregon State hit only one more shot from the field.
Colorado State was 8-of-18 on 3-pointers in the opening half, while Oregon State committed 12 of its 16 turnovers before the break.
