September 04, 2025 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team maintained its perfect home record Thursday evening, claiming a 4-2 win over Cal State Fullerton at Lorenz Field in Corvallis, Ore.
Arnau Farnos scored two goals in the contest, netting the Beavers' first goal in the opening half and sealing the victory in the final minutes of action. Fran Cortijo tallied a goal and an assist on the night, while Fernando Hernandez found the net for the first time in his collegiate career. Paul Fecteau, Aidan Marquez and Nico Nee also tallied assists on the night.
With the victory, Oregon State moves to 3-2-0 on the season, with a perfect 3-0-0 mark at home. The contest marked OSU's final match in Corvallis until it returns to Lorenz Field on Oct. 4.
The Beavers were on the front-foot early on, as Cortijo cut a pass back to Farnos who forced a Titan defender into a sprawling block within the opening five minutes. Hernandez forced a save with a header moments later. Fecteau found himself in on goal in the 10th minute, but again the Cal State Fullerton keeper was up to the challenge.
The Titans opened the scoring against the run of play in the 18th minute, finding a goal on a scramble in the box following a corner kick. The Beavers answered with a brilliant piece of play down the left wing, as Cortijo pulled the ball back to set up a Farnos goal.
Oregon State wasted little time taking its first lead of the game, as Hernandez scored from tight range shortly following an OSU corner kick. The Titans were reduced to 10-men following a 37th-minute red card. The Beavers headed to the intermission up 2-1.
Cortijo added to the advantage in the 60th minute, as Nee set up the Spaniard on the left side of the box. Cal State Fullerton immediately pulled one back on a penalty kick just over 30 seconds later.
Oregon State continued to create scoring opportunities late on, as Cortijo had a contested chance from the left side of the box and Nee found himself one-on-one with the goalie but had his shot saved. Farnos was able to close things out with a goal in the 87th minute, hitting the empty cage after Marquez set him up.
Overall, OSU out-shot the Titans 23-9 on the night.
The Beavers will hit the road next Friday to take on San Diego State.
