September 27, 2025 | Men's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Oregon State men's soccer team opened conference play with a 2-1 road victory at San Francisco Saturday evening.
Arnau Farnos netted the winning goal in the contest, his sixth of the season and the 19th of his Beaver career. Fabian Straudi provided the decisive pass, tallying the 18th assist of his career to move into a tie with Adrian Crespo for third in program history.
Lucas Fernandez-Kim scored the game's opening goal in the first half, finding the net for the first time as a Beaver. Fran Cortijo tallied his 14th career assist on the score, while Iker Carbonell Garcia notched his fifth of the 2025 campaign.
John Nicolson made six save in the Oregon State net to secure the victory.
With the win, Oregon State moved to 5-3-0 on the season, and handed San Francisco just its second loss of the campaign as the Dons end the evening with a mark of 5-2-1.
Fernandez-Kim created the game's first scoring chance in the fifth minute, forcing a save from just outside the 18-yard box. The midfielder followed that up by opening the scoring in the 21st minute, heading one home from point-blank range off assists from Cortijo and Carbonell Garcia.
The Dons pressed forward in the latter phases of the first half, with Nicolson making a big reaction save in the 41st minute to preserve the Beaver advantage. Oregon State headed to the break up 1-0.
Oregon State doubled the advantage in the 58th minute, when Nico Nee played a nice pass that found a gap in the San Francisco back line. Straudi squared the ball across the box for Farnos, who scored from inside the six-yard box.
The two sides traded punches from there, with Straudi forcing a save in the 65th minute. San Francisco pulled one back in the 75th minute with a curling effort from the top of the box that snuck inside the post. The Dons looked for an equalizer late on, but Oregon State maintained the lead to claim the victory.
The Beavers will return home Saturday for the first time in a month, when they welcome Saint Mary's to Lorenz Field.
