
Brown and Sanders Advance as Beavers Battle at NCAA West Regionals

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. – Oregon State opened competition at the NCAA West Regionals with several strong efforts on Thursday, highlighted by Sara Sanders and Jillian Brown, who advanced in their respective events with personal-best performances.
In the javelin, Sanders delivered under pressure, throwing a lifetime-best 52.17m/171-2 to place 12th—securing the final qualifying spot to the NCAA Championships in Eugene. Her throw also moved her to No. 3 all-time in Oregon State history. Teammates Maryann Ackerman (45.59m45.59m/149-7) and Isabelle Esler (44.26m/145-2) finished 30th and 36th, respectively, wrapping up solid seasons.
On the track, Jillian Brown clocked a personal-best 2:05.35 in the 800 meters, placing 15th overall and advancing to Saturday's final round. Brown's time improves her OSU #2 record and sets her up for a chance to qualify for nationals.
In the long jump, Delaney Bahn recorded a mark of 6.08m/19-11.5 to finish 29th. Ainsley Herron ran 4:40.57 in the 1,500 meters, placing 46th.
The Beavers will be back on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., looking to join Sanders in Eugene.
