Lin, Smolinski Lead OSU Men’s Golf On First Day In Phoenix

PHOENIX – Stanley Lin and Bradley Smolinski finished with matching 2-under 140 scores in the first two rounds of the Thunderbird Collegiate to lead the Oregon State men's golf team on Friday.

Smolinski shot a 2-under 69 in the first round, the best tally by a Beaver on Friday, while Lin shot back-to-back 1-under 70 rounds. The duo are tied for 29^th after the first day as Oregon State tallied a 3-under 565 over the first 36 to place in ninth.

Lin posted eight birdies on the day, with Smolinski tallying seven.

Rylan Johnson isn't far behind, in a tie for 35^th. He posted back-to-back rounds at 71. Johnson recorded seven birdies in the first day of play.

Brandon Eyre is three shots behind Johnson, with a 3-over 145. He posted a 2-over to open and a 1-over 72 in the back 18. Eyre is tied for 46^th and has seven birdies thus far.

Brody Marconi, who is competing as an individual, also shot a 1-over 72 in the second round and finds himself with a 4-over 146. He is tied for 51^st and connected on six birdies over the first 54 holes.

Collin Hodgkinson shot a 71 in the first round and is tied for 59^th with a 6-over 148. Hodgkinson tallied five birdies on the day.
