Beavers Sweep Pilots in Regular Season Finale
November 29, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball earned victory number 19 of the season on Saturday, sweeping the Portland Pilots at Gill Coliseum.
Maëli Cormier led all players with 12 kills on a .308 clip, also adding one block in her 13th double-digit kill performance of the season. Lauren Rumel and Annika Hester both hit .333 on their way to eight kills apiece, while Rumel added two aces. Alana Marrs posted a team-high .400 hitting percentage on her way to seven kills and two blocks.
Jackie Matias tallied another double-double, her eighth of the season, thanks 19 assists and 11 digs along with three service aces; in posting a trio of aces, Matias joined Rumel and Emma Lilo (three) as Beavers who finished at least two in the match.
Oregon State hit .303 against Portland, the third time in the team's last four matches that OSU has hit .300 or better and 10th time this season. With 10 aces, it was the most in a match since taking down LMU with 11 on Nov. 9 and the fourth double-digit total of the year.
Opening the match on a 4-0 run, Cormier did a bunch of damage throughout the first set, tallying five of her kills in the first alone, while Lilo tallied two of the Beavers' four aces. The Beaver defense was also lights out in the first, holding UP to a .061 hitting percentage, helping Oregon State win, 25-17.
The Pilots battled back in the second, even taking a lead at 8-7 midway through the set after an attacking error, but OSU quickly responded with a 3-0 run that featured back-to-back Rumel aces. Though Portland consistently kept the set within three points, the visitors couldn't keep OSU from scoring, as the Beavers pulled away late to win 25-20.
OSU's defense had another tremendous set in the third, holding Portland's attack to a .087 hitting percentage while rattling off four separate three-plus point runs and winning the set, 25-15, and match, 3-0, on a Matias ace.
Saturday's result concludes regular season number three under Head Coach Lindsey Behonick with a 19-9 record, which is the team's highest win total since posting 21 back in 2017. In fact, the 2025 season is just the fourth time that OSU has won 18 or more matches in the last 30 years, having previously reached that win total in 2017 (21-12, 7th Pac-12), 2014 (21-13, t-7th Pac-12) and 1996 (19-12, 7th Pac-12).
Finishing top three in the final regular season standings, it's just the second time ever that OSU has finished a season in the top five of the conference standings, and first in the top three, having placed fifth in the Pac-12 in 2001.
Oregon State volleyball will return to Gill Coliseum and a rebuilt Pac-12 next summer.
