Beavers Fall to San Diego
November 15, 2025 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The No. 10 Oregon State men's soccer team fell to No. 7 San Diego 4-2 Saturday evening at Paul Lorenz Field.
With the win, the Toreros claimed the West Coast Conference title, finishing their regular season 7-1-1 in conference play (13-2-3 overall). Oregon State ends the regular season with a mark of 10-4-2 and finishes second in the WCC with a league mark of 6-1-2.
The Beavers will now await Monday's NCAA Tournament Selection Show.
Fran Cortijo and Nico Nee scored for Oregon State, in a back-and-forth match that provided plenty of entertainment for a sell-out crowd of 1,324. Arnau Farnos provided an assist on Cortijo's goal, as he moved into sole possession of second on Oregon State's career points list with 72.
OSU out-shot USD 12-10 in the match.
The Beavers wasted no time opening the scoring, as Cortijo found the net with a shot from 20 yards out that beat the keeper less than two minutes in to the contest. San Diego leveled the score just over five minutes later.
Oregon State nearly retook the lead in the 25th minute, but Nee had his shot saved from tight range, and Cortijo curled the ensuing rebound just outside the post. The two sides battled back and forth through an entertaining first half, before heading to the intermission level at one.
Cortijo had the first clear-cut scoring chance of the second half, but his chip over the keeper bounced off the post. The Toreros took the lead in the 67th minute off an Oregon State own goal.
Nee looked to have salvaged the match when he evened the score with less than 10 minutes to play, but a brilliant free kick goal from Torero Josh Martinez put the visitors back ahead. San Diego tacked on another with less than 90 seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Monday's Selection Show will air live on NCAA.com.
