Hodgkinson Sets Men's Golf's Single-Round Record On Opening Day Of The Tindall

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Collin Hodgkinson set the Oregon State men's golf single-round record with a 10-under 61 to open the Tindall at the par-71 Aldarra Golf Club on Monday.
The junior recorded eight birdies and one eagle – at the par-5 11th-hole – to set the record. Alex Moore and Jonas Liebich previously held the record for under par, both shooting 9-under 63s during their career. Zachary Miller's 8-under 63 two weeks ago at the Palouse Collegiate etched his name into the record books for fewest strokes in a round.
Hodgkinson re-wrote the record books Monday. Starting at the ninth hole, he connected on the eagle, and then birdied 12 and 17. He made his mark on the front nine of the round, shooting a 6-under 29.
He enters the final 18 holes tied for 10th with a 5-under 137.
Hodgkinson was followed closely on day one by both Brandon Eyre and Rylan Johnson, who each finished at 1-over. Eyre had a strong second round, posting a 3-under 71 thanks to an eagle on the 11th, and three birdies over his final 18 holes of the day. Johnson, meanwhile, finished at par in the second round – also with three birdies – after posting a 1-over in the first 18 holes of the event.
The duo enter the final round tied for 31st.
Bradley Smolinski, in his second collegiate event, finished at par in round one and ended the day with a 5-over 147 to tie for 54th. Stanley Lin was the fifth and final Beaver at the event, shooting an 11-over 153 to tie for 73rd.
Oregon State, as a team, enters the final 18 holes in eighth with a 2-over 590. The Beavers finished with 35 birdies on the day, with Hodgkinson's 13 good for second-most among the field.
