HOW TO WATCH:
Gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics will air on NBC, USA Network and E!, and stream on Peacock and NBC Olympic platforms.
HOW WE GOT HERE:
Jade Carey traveled all over the country this spring and made headlines at every stop.
It started with an exceptional performance at the American Classic in April, where she won the all-around, vault, and floor exercise, and secured a second-place finish on balance beam. Soon after, at the Core Hydration Classic on May 18, she won the vault with a 14.225 average and placed fourth in the all-around standings.
Next up, it was off to the Xfinity U.S. Championships on June 3, where her all-around score of 109.300 placed seventh overall, with additional top-10 finishes in vault (third), floor (fourth), and bars (eighth).
After the meet's conclusion, it was announced that Carey had earned her spot on the 2024 Senior National Team, marking her eighth-consecutive year on the U.S. National Team, while also officially qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Carey's Olympic dreams became reality once again after a fantastic showing at the trials, putting an exclamation point on the competition with a dazzling floor exercise routine that earned her a 14.150 in what would be the final routine of any gymnast at the two-day event.
With a combined all-around score of 111.350, Carey secured a fourth-place finish and, after a brief period of deliberation, her selection to the Olympic team was confirmed live on NBC.
COMPETING COLLEGIATELY:
One of just two gymnasts to compete collegiately this past season while preparing for a run at the Olympics, Carey is far from the only member of Team USA with college ties. Including the two alternates, five are connected to a college gymnastics program.
Carey and Leanne Wong (Florida) both competed this past season while Sunisa Lee (Auburn) and Jordan Chiles (UCLA) have previously competed collegiately; Joscelyn Roberson will begin her first year at Arkansas next season.
ACCOLADES:
The list of her accomplishments includes winning a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on floor while advancing to the all-around and vault finals, several gold medals at the 2022 World Championships with Team USA, and multiple silver medals at the NCAA Championships: in 2022 on bars, 2023 on beam and 2024 in the all-around and on floor exercise.
Having quite literally re-written the record book at Oregon State, Carey is the only gymnast in program history to compete in the Olympics as a member of Team USA.
