Jackson Lake Finishes Day One In Seattle 9-Under; Beavers Lead After Two Rounds

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Jackson Lake shot a 9-under 133 over the first two rounds of the Seattle Redhawk Invitational to pace Oregon State and the field Monday at the par-71, 6,991-yard Chambers Bay Golf Course.

Lake opened the day with a 6-under 65 in the first round of play, then backed it up with a 3-under 68 over the next 18 holes. He leads the field by two shots, and also made a tournament-best 13 birdies over the first 36 holes.

Lake's play helped the Beavers to a first-place mark after 36 holes. The Beavers shot a team score of 11-under 557, which is three strokes better than No. 2 Idaho's 8-under. Three of the Beavers' five in the lineup – including Mateo Fuenmayor and Rylan Johnson – placed in the top-15, while Collin Hodgkinson, playing as an individual, is tied for fifth.

Fuenmayor is also tied for fifth, shooting a 4-under 138 on day one. He picked up eight birdies on the day. Fuenmayor had his best round of the day, finishing with a 3-under 68.

Hodgkinson, meanwhile, finished with eight birdies as well. He posted a 5-under second round.

Johnson is tied for 11th after day one, posting a 1-under 70 in each of the two rounds. He posted seven birdies and along with Lake, was one two Beavers with an eagle.

Nicolas Quintero and Stanley Lin also accounted for the Beavers' team score on the day. Quintero shot a 1-under 70 in his second round and finished the day with a 4-over 144. He is tied for 40th. Lin, meanwhile, shot a 6-over 146

Brandon Eyre, another Beaver competing as an individual, is tied for 21st thanks to a 1-over 143 on the day. He shot at par to open the day, then was 1-over in the second round.

Alfred Raja, one of three individuals competing from Oregon State, posted a 10-over 150 and is tied for 84th.
