
Beavers Drop Tightly Contested Rivalry Contest

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Oregon 60-58 on a basket with one second on the clock Saturday evening at Gill Coliseum.

The Beavers trailed by seven with just over two minutes to go, but battled back to level the score, before the Ducks scored the winning bucket.

Michael Rataj narrowly missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Bilodeau had 12 points and six boards, while Jordan Pope finished with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

Dexter Akanno recorded 10 points. Chol Marial scored nine points in his return to the starting lineup.

As a team Oregon State shot 41.8 percent from the floor and out-scored Oregon 34-24 in the second half.

The teams went back-and-forth early on, as Oregon took a 10-9 edge into the game's first media timeout. The score was level at 17 mid-way through the first half. The Ducks scored 11-straight points to open up a 26-17 advantage.

Oregon led 36-24 at the intermission.

The Beavers scored six-straight points to get back within nine with eight minutes to play. Oregon State used another six-point run to get within seven with just over four minutes on the clock.
