
Beavers Drop Road Contest at North Texas

DENTON, Texas – The Oregon State men's basketball team dropped a road matchup with North Texas 58-55 Monday evening in Denton, Texas.

The Beavers tied the game on a Josiah Lake II 3-pointer with less than a minute to play, but the Mean Green answered with a triple to claim the victory.

Michael Rataj led Oregon State with 15 points and seven rebounds. Nate Kingz went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc to end his day with 10 points. Lake II tallied seven points, while Damarco Minor had seven points and six assists.

As a team, the Beavers shot 47.4 percent from the floor and held the Mean Green to 37.5 percent shooting.

The defenses were in control early on, as the two sides headed to the under-12 media timeout tied at six. Oregon State led with 10 minutes to go before the break, but the Mean Green used a 6-0 run to go in front 14-11.

The Beavers answered from there to retake the lead on a Ja'Quavis Williford 3-pointer late in the opening 20 minutes, North Texas headed to the intermission leading 26-25.

Kingz got Oregon State rolling in the second half, knocking down back-to-back triples to put the Beavers back in front. OSU went up by six, but the Mean Green leveled the score at 37. North Texas used a 13-0 run to take a 53-46 advantage.

The Beavers bounced back with six-straight points to get within one at with two minutes to play. Lake II tied things up with 30 seconds to go, but North Texas hit a longball with seven seconds on the clock to secure the win. Â

The Beavers will return home on Nov. 30 for a matchup with UC Davis.
