Beavs Welcome 23 Newcomers to XC/Track & Field Program
August 14, 2023 | Women's Cross Country, Women's Track & Field
CORVALLIS – Oregon State cross country and track and field welcomed 23 new student-athletes to the program, 18 freshmen and five transfers.
Â
The Beavers looked to bolster their depth with the large class, particularly in cross country/distance and by adding several competitors to the pole vault squad. All 23 incoming athletes are listed below with relevant personal bests.
Â
"We felt that this class would be distance heavy as we begin to graduate out a few of our top stars in the next year. We went out an identified a group of high school and college transfers who we feel will be extremely impactful to our program for years to come. We were also trying to solidify our pole vault group and we are excited to add some talent to the squad in that particular event. Our staff continues to do an excellent job in identifying athletes who can make an impression on the west region and beyond," said head coach Louie Quintana.
OSU is coming off its best all-around season since the rebirth of the program in 2004 with eight All-America honors across cross country and indoor and outdoor track. The Beavs qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships with their best regional performance ever. Across both indoor and outdoor track seasons, the Beavers broke 15 school records and had their best-ever Pac-12 Championships team performance.
Â
Oregon State opens the 2023 cross country season on September 1 at the Linfield Opener.
