
NCAA-Leading 39.875 Earns Carey Fifth Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week Honor

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State gymnastics sophomore Jade Carey was named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week, taking home her fifth weekly award of the year and 14th of her career, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
Carey broke her own school record in the all-around with a career-best and NCAA-leading 39.875 against Arizona on Saturday, including perfect 10.000s on vault and floor against the Wildcats.
Carey took all four event titles against the Wildcats, running her career total to 76 event titles and 16 all-around titles.
The Phoenix native ranks tied for first in the all-around with a NQS of 39.705. Carey leads the nation on vault, is second on beam, tied for second on floor, and tied for ninth on bars.
Carey stuck her double twisting Yurchenko for her first 10.000 of the night and fourth of her career on the event.
The sophomore recorded her seventh-straight score of 9.900 or higher, with a small hop on her dismount for a 9.900 on bars.
Carey just missed her third 10.000 of the night with her second 9.975 of the year on beam, helping the Beavs break the school record with a 49.625 as a team for the highest mark in program history.
After three-straight 9.975s, the Olympic gold medalist finally broke through for her second 10.000 of the year and fourth of her career on floor to finish the night with the best all-around score in the country and tie the mark for the 13th best all-around score in NCAA history.
