Beavers Finish Fifth, Kyra Ly Tied For Fourth In Colorado

HIGHLANDS RACH, Colo. – Kyra Ly had her best career tournament to lead the Oregon State women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Sunday.
The Beavers concluded the three-day tournament with an 11-under 286-285-282--853 at the par-72, 6,648-yard University of Denver Golf Club to finish fifth in the 14-team field.
It's the second-straight tourney that Oregon State has finished with an 11-under 853, equaling the fifth best three-round score in program history.
Ly, a sophomore from Portland, finished in a tie for fourth place with a 7-under 70-70-69--209. Her previous best finish was a tie for sixth place at the Leadership and Golf Invitational earlier this fall and her previous best three-round score was a 2-under 214 at the NCAA Regionals in Westfield, Ind., last spring.
She has five sub-par rounds in four events this season after shooting three scores in red figures as a true freshman last season. Ly dropped in 14 birdies during the three rounds at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, tied for the fourth most in the field.
Madde Sund had her best tournament of the season, finishing in a tie for 17th place with a 2-under 73-71-70--214. She increased her birdie total all three rounds, culminating with five on Sunday.
Chayse Gomez also finished in a tie for 17th place with a 2-under 70-74-70--214. It's the second straight tournament she's posted a Top 20 finish after placing in a tie for 13th place at the Molly Collegiate Invitational with a 4-under 212.
True freshman Raya Nakao carded a 3-over 73-70-75--218 to finish in a tie for 33rd place. The other Oregon State true freshman playing, Rebecca Kim, equaled her best score as a Beaver in the final round, a 1-over 73.
California won the team title with a 21-under 843 and Jordan Rothman of Kansas claimed medalist honors with an 11-under 205.
The Beavers will next compete in their final tournament of the fall season, the Stanford Intercollegiate, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 22 in Stanford, Calif.
