Fetherstonhaugh, Mitchell Place 2nd and 3rd at Pac-12s
October 27, 2023 | Women's Cross Country
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Kaylee Mitchell raced to the best two finishes by Oregon State runners at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships, finishing second and third on Friday morning.
Â
The Beaver duo missed on the title by six and ten seconds, respectively, racing with leading group for the entire race before losing touch in the final kilometer.
Â
"Sort of mixed feelings about today. We ran hard and left it all on the course. That's all I can ask of the group. We were just 18 points from 3rd. We are right there and we will be ready to roll at regionals," head coach Louie Quintana said. "I'm incredibly proud of Kaylee and Grace. They have represented the Oregon State program so admirably over the last few years and Beaver Nation should be very proud."
Â
Oregon State placed sixth as a team, just five points off its best team total in school history with 105.
Â
Freshman Ruby Broadbent continued her promising first campaign with the Beavs, placing 30th overall and third on the team. Redshirt sophomore Sage Brooks followed in 35th while true sophomore Kate Laurent battled for 38th, rounding out the scoring runners for OSU.
Â
Abigail Pradere gave Oregon State its final top-50 runner at the meet, coming in 44th.
