Beavers Take Oregon State Invitational Title
October 10, 2023 | Men's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team has won the Oregon State Invitational.
The Beavers finished with a team score of 3-over 855 to claim the title at the par-71, 7,384-yard Trysting Tree Golf Course on Tuesday. The win gave OSU its first team title at its home tournament since 2019.
Tuesday's final round included heavy rain early on, followed by a strong wind. Every team finished over par in the final 18 holes of play, and it was Oregon State's 14-under in the first round on Monday that gave the Beavers the cushion to stay ahead for the title.
Three Beavers finished in the top-10 of the event, led by Jackson Lake, who finished 2-under 241, one stroke shy of the tournament's individual winner, Nicholas Prieto of Arizona State. Lake tied Prieto for the tournament lead with 12 birdies.
Brandon Eyre took sole possession of fifth by finishing at par. He posted just six birdies, but maintained the top-10 finish by shooting par on par-3 holes. It's his highest finish since winning the Husky Invitational as a freshman.
Lake and Eyre were just two of the five players who finished at par or under.
Rylan Johnson, who finished with 11 birdies, right behind Lake, tied for ninth with a 2-over 215. He tied for the tournament lead on par-3 holes, at 1-under.
Mateo Fuenmayor tied for 24th with a 7-over 220, posting seven birdies, while Stanley Lin tied for 49th with an 11-over 254.
All 10 Beavers participated in the event. Five of the 10 competed as individuals, and were led by Collin Hodgkinson, who was 6-over at 219. He tallied eight birdies over 54 holes.
Hodgkinson was followed by Nicolas Quintero and Alfred Raja, who tied for 66th via 14-over 227. Zach Miller tied for 75th at 15-over 228, while Brody Marconi was 85th with a 19-over 232.
