
Sara Elcano Promoted To Senior Associate AD, External Operations

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sara Elcano was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, Oregon State Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes announced Thursday.
"We did a national search for this vital role in our athletic department and it became obvious to everyone involved that Sara is the perfect person to oversee our external operations," Barnes said. "She is highly respected nationally and has earned the trust of our external stakeholders, coaches and fellow staff members. I look forward to Sara serving in an integral role on our executive leadership team. Her long-time commitment to Oregon State and plan to lead our external team are impressive."
Elcano is in her 12th year working in the Oregon State athletic department and has had several roles during that time. She began as the Executive Assistant to the Athletic Director and has since been promoted to Assistant Director for Athletic Operations, Director of Marketing and Promotions, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, and Associate Athletic Director for Fan Engagement & Revenue Generation.

Elcano has managed the department's marketing and fan engagement efforts, ticket operations and ticket sales. In her new role, she will add oversight of communications, creative and manage multimedia rights partnerships. Elcano will serve on the executive staff and as sport supervisor for women's cross country, women's track & field, men's soccer and softball.
A NACMA board member, Elcano began serving a four-year term with that organization in June 2019. She is also an active participant in NACMA subcommittees, NACMA Veteran's Summit and a member of Women Leaders in College Sports.
In 2019, Elcano served as the Marketing/Sales and Communication Sub-Committee Chair for the NCAA Women's Basketball Regional in Portland, Ore. She has served as an NCAA site rep for women's soccer, played an active role in hosting various other Pac-12 Championship and NCAA Postseason Events and was a board member of the Portland WISE chapter.
She graduated from Willamette University, where she was a basketball student-athlete, with a bachelor's degree in history. She later earned a master's degree in sports administration and leadership from Seattle University.
Elcano and her husband, Joey, reside in Corvallis and have two daughters, Cora and Kate.
