Three Beavers Earn All-Region Honors

CORVALLIS – Three Oregon State men's soccer players have earned All-Region honors, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday. Joran Gerbet and Mouhameth Thiam were selected to the All-Far West Second Team, while Javier Armas was tabbed to the Third Team.
This marks the third-straight season Oregon State has had at least three players selected to the All-Region Teams.
Gerbet, who was named Pac-12 Player of the Year, earned Second Team All-Region recognition for the second-straight year. The midfielder started 16 matches in the midfield this season, and was selected as Pac-12 Player of the Week in the final week of the regular season. Gerbet was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and All-Pac-12 First Team last season.
Thiam joined Gerbet on the All-Pac-12 First Team. He led the Beavers in both goals and assists this season, with five and four, respectively. The forward has scored in five of the Beavers' final seven matches.
Armas, a Pac-12 Second Team selection, started the first 11 matches of the season as part of the Oregon State back line, before missing the end of the season due to injury. Armas' season was highlighted by a two-goal performances in the Beavers' 2-1 win at Denver.
As a team, Oregon State finished the season with a record of 7-4-6, and earned the No. 8 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Beavers have now made the Tournament in four of the last five seasons.
