
Beavers Rise Past Phoenix

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team took its third consecutive home victory on Sunday, as the Beavers defeated Green Bay 65-56 at Gill Coliseum.

Glenn Taylor Jr. led the Beavers with 20 points on 6-for-7 shooting, to go with six rebounds and three assists. Dexter Akanno had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Justin Rochelin finished with nine points on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor.

Freshman Jordan Pope ended his afternoon with eight points, while Christian Wright put up six.

Oregon State shot 47.9 percent from the floor in the contest and out-scored the Phoenix 30-16 on points in the paint.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from Rochelin put the Beavers in front 16-12 nine minutes into the contest. The Phoenix led 18-16 at the under-8 media timeout, but Oregon State scored six-straight points to go ahead 22-18.

Akanno converted a layup at the first-half buzzer to send the Beavers to the locker room leading 30-23.

Oregon State used nine unanswered points to go ahead by 14 with nine minutes to go. The Beavers led by as many as 17 before taking the win by nine.

The Beaver will wrap up nonconference play on Wednesday when Denver visits Gill Coliseum.
