Moersdorf Leads OSU in Heptathlon at UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Sophomore Anneke Moersdorf earned the top finish for the Oregon State track and field team at the Rafer Johnson and Jackie Joyner Invitational on Thursday and Friday.

Moersdorf was one of three OSU athletes competing in the event, accompanied by Maddie McHone and Claire Corbitt.

The three Beavers finished six (Moersdorf; 4696), seven (McHone; 4489), and eight (Corbitt; 4430) in the heptathlon.

Moersdorf earned a sixth-place finish in the high jump (1.62m), shot put (10.60m), javelin (30.83m), and 900m (2:29.80). She claimed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.34m. The sophomore clocked in at 15.32 in the 100m hurdles for 11th, while taking 12th in the 200m with a time of 26.82.

McHone finished fourth with an 800m time of 2:29.40. It was a sixth-place finish in the high jump with height of 1.62m and took seventh in the 200m with a finish of 26.03. She posted a 9.67m shot put for eighth in the event. In the 100m hurdles, McHone placed ninth in a time of 15.02. The sophomore finished 10th in the long jump (4.84m) and javelin (24.43m).

Corbitt completed the day with a top-five finish in the long jump (third; 5.45m) and 200m (25.63). Coming in with a time of 14.85 in the 100m hurdles, she registered a sixth-place finish. Corbitt notched a 28.52m javelin throw, putting her eighth in the event.

Next up: Oregon State will compete in both the Sacramento State Invite and Lewis and Clark on April 17.
