Beavers Fall In Pac-12 Opener At California

BERKELEY, Calif. – Oregon State lost its Pac-12 opener, 73-61, to California on Thursday evening at Haas Paviliion.

Warith Alatishe led the Beavers (1-7, 0-1 Pac-12) with 21 points and eight rebounds. Dashawn Davis came off the bench and contributed 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Jordan Shepherd led the Golden Bears (4-4, 1-0 Pac-12) with 25 points, while Andre Kelly added 20 and Grant Anticevich finished with 12.

The Beavers finished the first half on a 12-0 run that cut the deficit to 34-33 at the break.

Cal opened up a 58-42 lead in the second half, but the Beavers rallied once again with an 11-1 run to cut it to 60-53 with 4:09 to play. The Golden Bears went 9-for-10 from the free throw line in the final 3:55 to pick up the win.

Oregon State next looks to knock off a Top 25 team when it hosts No. 11 Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Gill Coliseum.
