Beavers Finish Seventh, Stokmans Fifth At Pac-12 Preview

KAILUA-KONA, Hawai'i – The Oregon State women's golf team finished in seventh place and Danique Stokmans posted her best career finish at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview on Wednesday.

The Beavers concluded the three-day tourney with a 20-over 293-299-304--896 at the par-73, 6,449-yard Nanea Golf Club to finish seven in the 12-team field.

The field included nine teams ranked among the top 45 in the nation by golfstat.com. No. 1 Stanford led wire-to-wire and won the team title with a 1-under 875.

The seventh-place finish equals Oregon State's best in the Pac-12 Preview, which began in 2013. The Beavers also finished seventh in 2018 and 2019. The 2020 Pac-12 Preview was canceled due to COVID-19.

Stokmans, a redshirt freshman, was rock solid throughout the event, finishing in fifth place with a 4-under 69-72-74--215. It was just the fourth tournament of her Oregon State career. Earlier this fall, she finished in a tie for 32nd place at the Dick McGuire Invitational, a tie for 52nd at the Molly Collegiate Invitational and a tie for 50th at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Ellie Slama was consistent throughout the three days, shooting a 4-over 74-75-74--223 to finish in a tie for 17th place. The All-Pac-12 golfer had a top-20 finish in all four tournaments this fall -- tied for sixth at the Dick McGuire Invitational, tied for 14th at the Molly Collegiate Invitational and tied for 19th at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Chayse Gomez played well for the second-straight tournament, as she finished in 27th place with an 8-over 73-77-77--227. She finished in a tie for 26th place at the Beavers' last event, the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Kelsey Webster, who is new to the team after transferring from the University of Colorado, shot a 12-over 77-75-79--231 to finish in a tie for 38th place She competed in all four tournaments this fall and had back-to-back top 20 finishes at the Molly Collegiate Invitational (t-11) and Stanford Intercollegiate (t-19).

Madde Sund finished in a tie for 49th place with a 17-over 78-78-80--236. Her best finish this fall, while competing as a redshirt freshman, was a tie for 26th place at the Dick McGuire Invitational.

The Beavers will open their spring season on Friday, Feb. 25 at the three-day Florida State Match-Up in Tallahassee, Fla.
