Fernandez Earns Pac-12 Player of the Week Recognition

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State goalkeeper Adrian Fernandez was named Pac-12 Player of the Week by the conference on Monday. Fernandez is the second Beaver to earn recognition during the 2021 season. Fellow junior Sofiane Djeffal was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Oct. 11.Â
Fernandez helped No. 3 Oregon State earn two shutouts in a row and its seventh shutout of the season, with victories over Stanford (1-0, Oct. 28) and California (2-0, Oct. 31). Between the pipes, he totaled eight saves on the weekend with four against Stanford and four against California.
The Beavers' victory over California on Oct. 31 marked Fernandez's 21st career solo shutout. Fernandez is the Oregon State record holder for career solo shutouts, having surpassed the previous record holder (Peter Billmeyer, 15) on Sept. 30. He is also tied for sixth in Pac-12 history for career solo shutouts.Â
In the conference, the Madrid, Spain, native is tied for fourth in the saves category (35) and is third in the save percentage category (.761). Fernandez is tied for the conference lead and ranked nationally with a tie for ninth for shutouts this season. He has started all 14 games and has clocked a total of 1300:00 minutes on the pitch.Â
