No. 3 Beavers Shutout California, 2-0
October 31, 2021 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 3 Oregon State men's soccer team shutout California, 2-0, notching its second shutout in a row and seventh this season in Corvallis, Ore. on Sunday. The Beavers improve to 11-1-2 (6-0-1 Pac-12). Earlier in the season, the Beavers edged past the Golden Bears, 1-0, in Berkeley, Calif.
"With our goals being what they are, you have to come out and preform on Sunday. We always knew that Cal's a good team, they were going to make it difficult, and they certainly did at times," said head coach Terry Boss. "I'm proud that we stuck through, we found the result that we were looking for, and we move on to the next game."
Sophomore Mouhameth Thiam scored his fourth goal of the season off his right foot from redshirt sophomore Carlos Moliner's cross in the 30th minute of play. In the 49th minute, redshirt senior Tsiki Ntsabeleng found the back corner of the net, unassisted, to put the Beavers up 2-0 over the Golden Bears. Ntsabeleng's goal was his third this season.
The Beavers' defense held the Golden Bears to nine shots as junior Adrian Fernandez earned his 21st career solo shutout with four saves.
OSU posted six shots on goal out of 18 shots total and took six corner kicks throughout the game.
